View on StockTwits ↗@phil1021 Don't know if you realize how fraught and involved a question that is lol If you go to the Bogleheads forum, you'll find pages of discussion and debate about why international stocks have underperformed US stocks and if the US stock premium is justified and when there'll be a mean reversion. Same right now with IWM and RSP vs market cap weighted US index Short answer is, nobody knows. One huge thing to consider is that VEU and VXUS do not hedge for currency risk. Meaning the very strong dollar has really been a drag and headwind here. Also don't know how long that can persist. Check out $HAWX for a hedged version and see the performance there! Lot of international indices actually doing great Speaking of which, I do like some ETFs. Ones that screen for quality and region specific. India via IFN, $EWX as good diversifier, $IQLT as quality screened developed market index, and some choice markets like Mexico and Brazil right now. Otherwise, I'm all in US 🤷♂️
View on StockTwits ↗@CrocksAndPonds @guymandude I agree fully The gulf in valuations between us and ex us particularly emerging markets has gotten so extreme a reversion to mean to some degree makes sense and has to be in order. Though people have been saying that for a long time I like India a lot and rode EPI and sold too early. IFN seems like an insanely good overlooked value that's been around for a while and has solid retail traction too (look at yahoo message board for it). I like undervalued CEFs in general. MXF also looks good. EMZ and EMZS are Brazil ETFs I'm getting into now First rate cut and dollar weakening should help a lot. Currency hedged ETFs on fire, wish I'd gotten into them $HAWX
View on StockTwits ↗$VXUS $VEA $VWO I'm curious, as I wait for non-US stocks to stop being turds, whether I may be going about it all wrong Specifically, currency hedging versions of international ETFs Best one that replicates close cousin to ex-US $ACWX is $HAWX Has anyone gone this route? Also wary of changing up allocations entirely like this and introducing idiosyncratic risk and selling loser to buy winner. Classic mistake to make, not staying course. The dollar will reverse eventually, helping non US stocks alike. How will these hedged ones perform then?
