View on StockTwits ↗Certainly lots for technical analysts to digest on the chart of the Industrial sector ETF $XLI. Gap higher yesterday, now bearish engulfing candlestick from horizontal resistance at the February high today. All within the backdrop of an underperforming trend since the end of February. If the ETF is unable to hold above yesterday’s gap support (~172), it would pose problems for this segment and, arguably, the broader market, overall. $VIS $IYJ

View on StockTwits ↗President Trump Tariff Tantrum this evening Note: So far this year, more than a dozen drugmakers have pledged to spend more than $350B collectively by the end of this decade on manufacturing, R&D, and other functions in the US. Roughly 9 out of 10 prescriptions in the US are filled w/ generic drugs, which wouldn’t be affected by a tariff on “branded or patented” products This summer the Trump admin placed a 15% tariff on most pharmaceuticals coming from the EU. Most affected: Multinationals that import branded drugs into the US but don’t have large US manufacturing footprint - Novartis (NVS), Sanofi (SNY), AstraZeneca (AZN), GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). Less affected / potential winners: Firms with big US manufacturing footprints - Pfizer (PFE), Eli Lilly (LLY), Merck (MRK), Bristol Myers (BMY). Novo Nordisk (NVO) is already expanding US plants, which could give it a relative edge $XLV $IHE $IYT $IYJ $PKB
