$SMHB This won't really recover toward the prior 52-Week High until Rate Cuts are announced and the many REITs and other Dividend paying stocks that are Rate Sensitive, start to spike higher.
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB Has anyone gotten their Jun dividend yet? It was supposed to be paid on the 23rd. I know they're normally a little late, but I would have expected it by today.
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB This ETN is sitting in a nice Accumulation Range as this month's coupon payment is scheduled to be quite high percentage wise. It was a real steal if you added shares before the deadline, but as I keep saying here - do NOT have your Coupon (dividend) payments auto-reinvested, as this ETN always rises for demand on the days the payments are processed, often in line with the coupon amount (or more), so instead take the cash payment to your brokerage account and time your buys at a better price, or buy a different stock (I often buy high-risk stocks with the payments from this fund).
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB As the economy recovers and especially as Interest Rates go down, SMHB will run up as many of the stocks in the index are REITs that are interest rate sensitive.
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB and $MVRL. Div was supposed to be paid yesterday. Just now Schwab says they haven't received it yet. What's up with that?
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB Good bounce-back today in the underlying Index for High-Dividend Stocks in this ETN. Congrats to those who bought at the low, as it will be very rewarding and APR from that price is far above 20%.
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB completely out of this on 10-10 at 4.08… no more leveraged ETN’s… de-risking the account… had it for a long time… paid for itself after it paid for it’s losses… this can go down hard and fast with little warning
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB Strong Buy on SMHB at this $3.82 level, as this is where you leverage in so that really big Coupon (aka Dividend) payments kick in with higher APR (at this price level, the APR is over 20% btw, because of 2x Leverage ETN). Always know the risks of ETNs, as this isn't financial advice, but think of me like a Valet helping park your car. This ETN is a great "park your money" place if you can get good Entry Points on downturn months and at least hold long enough so you get credited for the monthly Coupon payment. Ex-Dividend Day is Nov 12th so you only have 2 trading days to buy in to get on Record for the monthly Coupon, which this month is $0.0338 at this precise price (APR 21.43% as of this moment with SMHB quoted at $3.82). Reminder, trading Supply/Demand has minimal effect on price, as it tracks a 100-stock Index run by MSCI. Top 3 in Index: $WU, $CIVI, and $NE. Once more Interest Rate Cuts occur, SMHB underlying stocks in the Index will rise and Dividends will grow.
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB This is a really great price level to enter SMHB, and before the Ex-Div date to be eligible for the Monthly Coupon (ETN version of Dividends). Just know the risks for ETNs (this is a Debt Instrument and UBS has the option to pull the rug out from under us). If you are only parking money to get the Coupon - this is well worth it, especially when the Coupon APR is higher for what would be the Quarterly Dividend month for the underlying stocks in the index. Most of the 100 stocks in this high-Dividend index - still pay traditional Quarterly Dividends, if you own the stock directly. In some cases, some of the stocks in the index have transitioned to a modern trend of Monthly dividends (Apple Hospitality APLE is an example of a REIT that pays monthly dividends and is in the MSCI Index used for SMHB valuation and Coupon rates). Although you can trade in-and-out of this ETN just to harvest the monthly Coupon, if you take some risk to hold over 1 year, it can lessen the tax burden.
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB Somehow this didnt retain the SMHB ticker tag so it did not post on Friday Oct 31st, as that was the day to buy SMHB at $4.00 and it even dipped into the $3s briefly. Those rare trading days are when you enter SMHB, but not any other time. Only enter as it nears a 52-week low.
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB This is a great place to park your brokerage money if you are undecided on where to invest next for a 30-90 day period. SMHB pays a monthly coupon (ETN version of Dividend) with a current annualized rate of over 18% since this is a high-dividend tracking ETN at 2x leverage (so leveraged Coupons as well). Just know the risks for ETNs in general, and the Acceleration options that UBS has for this ETN.
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB This is the UBS page for SMHB: https://etracs.ubs.com/product/detail/index/ussymbol/SMHB And at that page, click the "Index" to see the 100 stocks currently in the ETN, from most-to-least based on Weight. And here is the page to check SMHB Press Releases for the Monthly Coupon (aka Dividend) announcements: https://etracs.ubs.com/whats-new/press-releases That same Press Release page is worth paying attention to, for all the ETRACS issued by UBS, in case they ever Accelerate (cash out) any of their issued ETNs earlier than expected.
View on StockTwits ↗$SMHB is an interesting but risky Exchange Traded Note (ETN) to jump into. Some positives first - the underlying index must be high-paying Dividend stocks. Many but not all, are REITs. Typically these companies are laden with a lot of interest-bearing Debt, especially if Real Estate is involved (as with REITs), so the Federal Reserve's decision on Rate Cuts will really change the price of the stocks in the index, going forward, if we get the expected rate cuts. Improvements in those companies' margins can also lead to better dividends in their stocks (which translate to better Coupons from this ETN). The risk - UBS is hoping for failure, even a sharp market downturn, because UBS issued this ETN as a Debt Instrument (UBS is paying us interest, via Coupon payments). When/if there is a down market, if $SMHB goes <$2 then UBS can accelerate and force the buyout of all shares. While the stocks may see the right side of V-Curve, our shares in $SMHB will not ride the recovery.
